Profile photo shoot with Yuka, a certified balance ball instructor from the Physical Fitness Maintenance Association.
After taking a standard profile shot, she kindly joined me in a more playful, imaginative session.
The nickname “Jump Matsumoto” was coined by Kumin, since Yuka’s last name is Matsumoto. We did a shoot imagining her as a “ruthless instructor” jumping on a balance ball while giving intense training to her students.
Of course, because of Yuka’s genuinely kind personality, even in her “Jump Matsumoto” mode she could only manage a mischievous smile instead of a truly evil glare.
For the profile shoot, we also captured many useful poses like pointing and posture cues that can be used in instructional materials.
Having shot for many magazines, I always aim to deliver not just profile photos but also images that work well on websites and in educational materials.
